Turquoise is a tropical and playful summer color! Pantone called it the Color of the year in 2010. Turquoise is both cool and soothing. It has been popular for home decorating in summer season as it is an energizing color. One can easily accessorize rooms with a a few pieces such as; glass vases, throw pillows, candles, turquoise table lamp, seating, or use in dinnerware items such as place-mats and glasses.
Experts advise us to mute turquoise with a shade of gray to achieve a neutral and muted look. It is best to use whites and off-whites with turquoise as complimentary colors, especially on furniture, moldings, and draperies. Ceilings could be painted a lighter shade of turquoise to get some balance between the walls and ceiling. Accent pieces can contain warm color shades of yellow, red, or orange. During winter, accent pieces could be used in navy or chocolate brown.
